Cotterell – KO
Team Record set as
Fry Club JFC Under 9’s march home!
I don’t often write a
report such is the time I spend on other things, I’ve been trying to bribe
several parents but to no avail!!!
I couldn’t let this game
slip on by without putting up a mention so here goes……
….It was a chilly morning
as there had been an early frost which in turn made the pitch quite heavy but
the work we had put in on fitness over the last 3 months or so was about to
show through.
GAME 1
Frampton took the K-O but
it wasn’t long before we had charge of the ball and just as in previous weeks
we hit our opposition early, in the very first minute Charlie Beard fired Frys
in to a quick 1–0 lead. At the
restart Frys again disposed the Frampton midfield and again quickly set about
attacking. With chances coming along one after the other it was a surprise we
had to wait so long for the 2nd. Several chances were missed before
Aaron Hodgson eventually broke Frampton’s stubborn resistance. Thinking that
this goal was the one that was going to open the floodgates it wasn’t long
before we realised that yet again we was not being selfish enough, chance after
chance went begging before the first half ended with Frys keeping a slender but
ample 2-0 advantage.
At the interval I had to
remind the players of their misfortunes of last week where we had missed
several chances and ultimately this had cost us in our 3-2 defeat to Yate. I
asked them to play football not like they were playing bottom of the league
opposition (as we were) but to play them like we would if were playing top of
the league opponents.
As the second half kicked
off it was apparent that they had listened and started to pass the ball around
quite smoothly (or as smooth as possible such was the pitch!) and it wasn’t
long before it paid off. With some smart interplay between the team Fry Club
had managed to force another corner, the ball was played short to Charlie Beard
who curved the ball towards goal and with the goal keeper found watching
another game the ball sailed over the line to give Frys a 3-0 advantage on 22 minutes.
Just 1 minute later
Charlie completed a hatrick when some fantastic 2 touch football saw him clean
through to hit home and give Frys a 4 –
0 lead.
Frys had now got the bug
for goals and again Charlie found the net in the 25th minute to give
Frys a 5 goal lead, this was
Charlie’s last of 4 goals but a special mention should go to his 3 minute hatrick
(22 – 23 – 25).
Frys again continued to
press and got there reward on 32 mins when Matthew Notton fired home to put the
score at 6-0.
At the restart Frampton
then had what was their best chance in game 1. The ball had eluded Jack at the
back who up to this point had not put a foot wrong but while Jack may have
thought he’d let in the Frampton striker, Oliver Sharp in goal was in no mood
to give up his clean sheet as with very quick reaction got down low to his left
to keep his clean sheet intact.
With just 2 minutes left
Jack Sheehan took a corner from the left side and as the ball swung outwards
Ashley Siddall popped in to volley home from 2 yards to give Fry Club a first
game lead of 7-0.
Formation – Not published
;-)
Team – Oliver – Jack –
Ryan – Matthew – Ashley – Charlie – Aaron (No subs used)
Player of the match – Oliver Sharp in goal, while he only had a couple of half
chances to deal with, his alertness towards the end to keep a clean sheet won
him the award.
GAME 2
Game 2 started off just as
quickly as game 1 as Lewis Ellington popped up after just 30 seconds to put
Frys 1-0 up in this encounter. Again
as in game 1 we then found it hard to make our chances pay off as chance after
chance went begging. The B squad however didn’t have to wait long before they
found real rhythm and in the 6th minute Louis Heitzman continued
with his recent impressive displays to slot home to put Frys 2 up.
Tom Grant then got in on
the act in the 7th minute when a keeper error seen the ball cross
the line to take our lead to 3-0.
The game was then to
become (if it hadn’t already) the Louis and Lewis show.
Louis Heitzman grabbed his
2nd of the day on 9 minutes (4-0)
before Lewis Ellington put us 5-0 up
in the 10th minute.
Louis Heitzman then
completed his hatrick for the day on 15 minutes with a well crafted goal.
George Price giving tireless effort enabled Louis to break free and send us
into a 6-0 game 2 lead.
Lewis Ellington then
completed the 1st half goals rush on 18 minutes to give Frys a game
2 7-0 lead and 14-0 overall.
In the 2nd half
Lewis Ellington then set about trying to equal Charlie Beards 3 minute hatrick
by scoring goals in the 23rd and 24th minutes to take the
lead to 9-0. However, he couldn’t
quite manage it as he had to wait until the 29th minute to grab his
next goal and his 6th! for the day to give us a 10-0 lead. Frampton then hit back and gave their fans something to
cheer about when they broke through to grab a goal to take this game to 10-1. Frampton had deserved their goal
as to their credit they never gave up chasing and putting in the FIRM
challenges throughout the entire encounter. Cry’s from the opps bench of “come
on boys we can win this one” didn’t worry us to much as Fry Club where 17-1 up overall with only 6 minutes
left but still footballs a funny old game so I decided to take no chances! I
had subbed Tom Grant early on in the game and told him to (RE) warm up as he
was going back on the next time the ball goes dead. That was to be 1 minute
later when Lewis Ellington got his 7th of the day on 35 minutes and
to take this game to 11-1. I wasn’t
fazed by Lewis’s goal however because it was clear from the above he wasn’t
working hard enough :p so I hauled him
off and put Tom Grant on in his place. It was to prove a canny move by the manager
J as Tom popped up in the 38th minute to
complete the day’s goals fest with a very fine and well taken goal. This made
the final score 12-1 (A single game
victory record) and the 19-1 overall
score line gave us our best ever combined victory since we began playing as
U7’s.
Formation – all up front!
Or so it seemed.
Team…Jack(GK) – Sarah – George – Scott – Louis – Tom – Lewis – SUBS USED – Scott –

Player of the match – George Price for his tireless effort, broke up everything in
his path.
Manager’s thoughts
It’s hard to be
disappointed in such a fine victory, it was a proud day for me and Richard and
I think we can be happy for our season efforts so far.
There was some gritty
performances out there today, George especially who took the brunt of 3 hard
challenges, Charlie with his 3 minute hatrick, Lewis with his 7, Scott’s much
more impressive efforts, and Oliver’s 3rd clean sheet on the trot
making his own unique hatrick to name but a few good memories to look back on
over the Yule tide break.
WELL DONE ALL AND ENJOY
THIS ONE
And if you haven’t
already! – HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
